A good old rummage through heaps of junk and vintage goodies has got my Wednesday off to a cracking start! Hidden beneath several broken handbags and ripped shirts, you can always find a little treasure if you don't mind getting on your hands and knees and digging...I of course do not mind, my glorious finds are so worth the effort! There's always a good bargain to be had with most things selling for less than €5, particularly clothes...always always haggle to get the price lower, it generally works if you crack your biggest smile and give the eyelashes a quick flutter! However there was no budging one lady this morning who tried to sell me a tin for €15! I mean it was a nice flowery tin...but all the same, it is a tin! The markets are definitely one of the best things about this city. For mountains of vintage goodies, shirts, bags, Levi's shorts and all sorts of crazy gear, the place to be is the Waterlooplein flea market. When you come across the stall with the crazy amount of vintage sequin jackets, ask for 'Marco' from Morocco (wearing a cap) he gives you super cheap prices (if your English and female, that's also an advantage) and sometimes chucks a couple of small items in for free!!
